PACKING TIPS

BOX SIZE SUGGESTED USAGE
SMALL
Use for books and other heavier items.
MEDIUM
Medium to heavy items, electronics, pantry, pots & pans, lamps & shades. Most common size for general use.
MEDIUM LARGE
Light to medium weight general household items.
LARGE
Light items, blankets, linens, pillows & plastic toys.
DISHPACK
Glassware, fragile artwork and other delicate items.
WARDROBE Hanging clothing. Other light closet items can be packed in the bottoms such as shoes, belts, hats etc.
MIRROR PACK Framed artwork, glass, mirrors & other flat items.
PACKING PAPER Use generously for glass, dishware & other breakables.
PAPER PAD Wrap large items such as electronics & artwork.
TAPE Close and seal all boxes with packing tape.
STRETCH WRAP Use for protecting upholstered and leather furniture and securing loose drawers and cabinet doors.
 
PACKING TIPS
  • Small Box = Heavy Items & Large Box = Light Items
  • Pack heavier items on the bottom of each box.
  • Tape seal items that may spill if tipped sideways.
  • Close and seal all box tops and bottoms with tape.
  • Seal boxes along their seam. Do not cross-fold box tops.
  • Do not tape finished surfaces. Use stretch-wrap instead.
  • Avoid protruding items sticking out of box tops.
  • Pack boxes full to avoid top crushing.
  • Use packing paper generously for breakables.
  • Label boxes on their sides with the destination rooms name. List their contents on top. (optional)
  • Lable boxes with their room names, avoiding codes.
  • Stack packed boxes against walls and out of walkways.
  • Stack boxes in a centralized area when possible and stack like sized boxes together.
 
MOVING DAY TIPS
  • Have loose items packed and all boxes sealed.
  • Disconnect appliances, TVs and other electronics.
  • Disassemble beds, cribs, dresser mirrors and desks.
  • Leave a path of access clear to each area.
  • Have loose items cleared off of furniture tops.
  • Have a clear idea of where your items will be placed.
  • Make arrangements to confine pets and children.
  • Park all vehicles away from truck access area.
  • Contact neighbors if truck may affect their access.
  • Schedule other work crews accordingly.
  • Have your agreed upon payment option prepared and in full upon completion of the move.
